Doncaster Locksmith steals the £1000 cash prize at Lockex
Awaiting one unsuspecting Locksmith attending Lockex 2016, was the chance to win a cash prize of £1000.
Brisant, the cylinder and security trade specialist and pioneers of the Ultion three-star cylinder, seized the opportunity at the show to provide visitors with the chance to open a cash box of £1000 full of five pound notes.
Each day of the show, a winning key was given out by the check-in staff at the reception area and all visitors were encouraged to visit the Bristant stand to try their key in the case.
Lucky Locksmith, Andrew James of Andrew James Locksmiths, Doncaster was overwhelmed when just after entering the show, he headed over to stand 65 to find that he had the winning key.
Commenting on winning: “I’d come along to the show to catch up with a few other Locksmith colleagues and to have a look at the new technologies available at the moment and never expected to go home £1000 richer!”
Andrew, first became a Locksmith back in 2010, when after working in a hardware shop for most of his career, he experienced an unexpected heart attack.
Firstly, he trained to become a qualified Locksmith and shortly after, Andrew then became an associated member of the MLA. He now practises in and around the Doncaster area, where he commented: “I love Locksmithing, it’s a job that fits in with my pace of life and one also, where people are always glad to see you.”
Asked what he will be spending the cash on, he commented: “Boringly, I intend to put the money towards paying a few outstanding bills.”
Nick Dutton, joint managing director for Brisant, added: “Andrew’s key was the third winning key we had put out there at the show over the three days, and we had started to think that no one would win the money, so congratulations to Andrew and commiserations to the other two unlucky Locksmith’s who decided not to come to the stand and try out their keys on Friday and Saturday.”
